Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for nine road projects in Bihar via video conference on Monday and will also inaugurate fiber optic internet services through which all 45,945 villages in the state will be connected. These nine road projects involve a road length of approximately 350 kilometers at a cost of Rs 14,258 crore.
Modi recently inaugurated or laid the foundations for a series of development projects, including those related to railways, infrastructure, bridges, potable water and sanitation, in the state, which will go to the assembly polls in October-November.
The Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement that the proposed roads will pave the way for the development of the state, as they will improve connectivity, convenience and economic growth in and around it. The movement of people and goods will also improve substantially, especially with the neighboring states of Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand, he added.
Modi had declared a special package for the significant development of Bihar’s infrastructure in 2015. The package included 75 projects worth Rs 54,700 crore, of which 13 projects have been completed, and 38 and others are being worked on. are in the process of starting. said the PMO.
With the completion of these projects, all of Bihar’s rivers will have bridges conforming to 21st century specifications and all major national highways will be expanded and strengthened.
In detailing the fiber optic Internet services program, the PMO described it as a prestigious project covering all 45,945 villages in Bihar, which will allow a “digital revolution” to reach the most remote corner of the state.
This project will be executed by the combined efforts of the Department of Telecommunications, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and the Common Services Centers (CSC).
The PMO said that the CSC has 34,821 centers across Bihar, and it will use this workforce not only to implement this project, but also to make it work professionally to provide fiber optic Internet services for ordinary citizens in each village. .
The project would also involve the implementation of a Wi-Fi connection and five free connections to government institutions such as primary schools and anganwadi centers, among others, he said.
This will lead to digital services such as e-education, e-agriculture, telemedicine, tele-law and other social security schemes being easily available to all citizens of Bihar at the click of a button, the PMO said.
