Dubai: England wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler will miss the Rajasthan Royals’ first IPL game against Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday as he is in the middle of his mandatory quarantine period, having arrived with his family.
“Unfortunately I am going to miss the first Rajasthan game because I am going to be in my quarantine period because I am here with my family, which is great that the Royals have allowed me to have my family here.” he said on an Instagram live from the official Royals account.
“It will be a great help for the confinement to have my family here with me.”
21 players from England and Australia arrived here earlier this week after fighting in the limited overs series in the UK that concluded on September 16.
The BCCI had reduced their quarantine period to 36 hours instead of the six days that other players spent entering one biobubble of another, having arrived on a chartered flight.
However, Buttler arrived on a different flight with his family and that is why he must remain in quarantine for six days.
Buttler is an important player for the Royals. Compatriots Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes are also part of the team.
The stellar off-roader Stokes’s participation in the tournament is also in question, as he is spending his time with his sick father in New Zealand. He is expected to miss a few games at least in the first half of the tournament.
