A tourist guide filed a complaint that she was abducted from a five-star hotel near India Gate in central Delhi, a high-security area just 2 km from Connaught Place market, police said Sunday. The survivor named six people, including a woman, after which the main defendant was arrested, they added.

The incident took place on September 18 and the survivor made the call for help the next day, police said.

The hotel room where the crime occurred had been reserved by two businessmen, they added.

The survivor, who also works as a ticket reservation executive, was in dire need of money and the defendant had called her at the hotel under the pretext of making her loan at a low rate, police said.

“In the victim’s complaint, a case u / s 376D, 323, 34 IPC PS Connaught Place is recorded against 06 alleged persons, including a woman,” New Delhi Deputy Police Commissioner Eish Singhal told NDTV.

“The victim was lured into the hotel room on the pretext of providing a loan at subsidized rates by the alleged persons. The victim worked as a tour guide and ticket booking agent and was in dire need of money. Two businessmen,” he added .

A man named Manoj Sharma, a resident of the Sheikh Sarai area of ​​Delhi, has been arrested in connection with the case.

Further investigations and searches of other defendants are underway.
