Details about routes, stops, schedules

Indian Railways plans to run 20 pairs or 40 clone trains starting tomorrow, September 21, due to the high demand for travel on specific routes.

These trains will be added to the special trains that are already in operation and will be put into operation on the routes of high patronage and demand. The early booking period for these trains will be 10 days and the reservation opened at 8am on September 19.

Here are key things to know about clone train routes, stops, and schedules:

1) Passengers on the waiting list on high-traffic routes can expect to arrive at their destinations two to three hours before the corresponding main train, a senior official said Sunday.

2) These clone trains will operate primarily as 3-AC trains with fewer stops, higher speeds, and a departure time earlier than the main train.

3) Their stops will be limited to operational stops or the Division Headquarters en route (if applicable), thus reducing travel time, an official added.

4) These 20 pairs of trains are introduced on high demand routes with most of the trains between Bihar, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

5) While the 19 pairs of Humsafar Express trains will be 18 wagons, the Lucknow-Delhi train will have 22 wagons.

6) Here is the complete list of stops, schedules, routes:

7) While as of now, a dynamic fee is not being charged for these trains, sources said that in the near future, it can be considered, the PTI news agency reported.

8) These trains will be added to the 310 special trains that are already in service and their stops will be limited to operational stops or to the Division Headquarters en route (if any).

9) Suggestions from state governments can also be maintained while stops are restricted, said the national carrier.

10) The national carrier had suspended all passenger trains due to the imposition of a national shutdown as of March 25. However, it resumed services in a staggered fashion, with Shramik Special trains to help stranded migrant workers reach their home states starting May 1.
