The elements in the hills were inactive and the Indian army occupied them before the Chinese troops. Now our troops have an advantage over the adversary in those areas, they said.

The sources said that foiling the Chinese army’s attempts to occupy the heights led to bullets being fired into the air at least three times from the north shore of Pangong to the south shore of the lake.

Sources clarified that the Black Top and Helmet Top hill features are on the Chinese side of LAC while the heights occupied by the Indian side are in Indian territory.

After the occupation of the heights by the Indian army, the Chinese army has deployed around 3,000 additional troops from its combined arms brigade, including its infantry and armored troops near the heights of Rezang la and Rechen La.

The Moldo garrison of the Chinese army has also been fully activated with additional troops in recent weeks by the People’s Liberation Army.

After the Chinese aggression, the Indian security forces are working in close coordination and the operations are carried out under the close supervision of the National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, the Chief of Defense Staff, General Bipin Rawat, and the Chief of the Army, General Manoj Mukund Narwane. India and China have been involved in a major conflict near Lake Pangong and various other points of friction from the northern subsector to the Chushul area of Ladakh.
