106-year-old Maharashtra woman wins battle against COVID-19

A 106-year-old woman from Maharashtra’s Thane district defeated COVID-19 and was released from the hospital on Sunday with doctors and nurses giving her a warm goodbye.

With happiness written on her face, the woman proudly showed her discharge certificate to the media before leaving the hospital after a 10-day stay.

After the Dombivli centennial contracted the disease, no hospital was initially ready to admit her due to her age, said her daughter-in-law, who was happy to see her mother-in-law released from the hospital after recovering from the disease.

She was finally admitted 10 days ago to the COVID-19 treatment facility established by the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) in Savlaram Krida Sankul (sports complex) and the doctors and medical teams there cared for her properly, the daughter in said the law .

“We are truly grateful to the hospital’s medical team who cared for her properly and helped her beat the coronavirus,” he said.

Dr. Rahul Ghule, managing director of “One Rupee Clinic”, which runs this COVID-19 treatment center, thanked his team for caring for the elderly woman. “We are pleased that he has responded successfully to treatment,” he said, adding that the hospital was opened on July 27 and has so far treated 1,100 patients with COVID-19.

The “ One Rupee Clinics ”, which charge 1 Re per patient for their services, have been established at select stations in the suburban section of the Central Railroad to provide emergency aid to victims of rail accidents and provide medical treatment to the public in general .

Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Aaditya Thackery took to Twitter to praise KDMC staff and Shiv Sena’s Kalyan MP, Shrikant Shinde, for providing adequate treatment to the elderly woman.

He said the blessings of women and many more like her “keep us all strong.”

KDMC spokesperson Madhuri Phopale said 38,301 cases of COVID-19 have so far been reported in areas that are within civic boundaries and of these, 762 have died due to the disease.

So far, there are 5,451 active cases of COVID-19 in Kalyan-Dombivli, while 32,088 patients have recovered, it said.
