A full examination of the crime scene including Sushant’s bedroom and duplex apartment where the star allegedly committed suicide, and autopsy files were performed by forensic experts from the Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to determine the cause. of the young Bollywood actor’s death.
Highly placed sources in the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, AIIMS told IANS that the findings of their team of experts would certainly shed light on the mysterious death of Sushant Singh Rajput. “If an investigative report, which contains crucial details about the circumstances in which one died, has certain discrepancies, then it could be a significant finding. However, since the matter is subjudicial, the specific forensic findings cannot be shared.” added the source.
The Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, AIIMS, Dr. Sudhir Gupta, also stated that findings that are conclusive will only be shared with CBI. “At this stage I can only say that the opinion of the medical board will clear all doubts (related to the mysterious death of the star),” said Dr. Gupta while declining to comment on the nature of the discrepancies or any signs of lapses in conducting autopsy and other forensic investigations.
The results of the viscera test that has a conclusive opinion on Sushant’s death will also be shared by the AIIMS team with CBI officials early next week.
The CBI asked AIIMS forensic experts to examine the lapses in the initial investigations, mainly the forensic aspects. The manipulation of any evidence at the crime scene or the omission of any signs of foul play by the Mumbai police or the panel of doctors who performed the autopsy, were the key areas in which the forensic team has gathered information based in a thorough investigation.
AIIMS experts flew from Delhi to Mumbai to conduct an on-site evaluation of the sequence of events and the scrutiny of documents related to forensic science.
Previously, a team of doctors that included two Mumbai forensic surgeons, Dr. Shiv Kumar Kolle and Dr. Sachin Sonawane, who performed an autopsy of the body on June 15 at Cooper Hospital, concluded that Sushant died of asphyxia due to to hanging. In their autopsy report, the panel of five doctors did not indicate any signs of foul play or observe any traits or characteristics leading to the suspicion of murder.
However, the re-examination of all forensic investigations by the AIIMS team has given a much clearer picture of what actually happened on June 14 at the Bandra flat where Sushant was found dead.
Meanwhile, CBI sources said that once all documents, case diaries and witness statements have been studied, the agency would first investigate the involvement of any outside parties, if they were involved in the case. “CBI is known for handling sensitive cases. We are not succumbing to pressure. We are investigating the case with an open mind. Whether Sushant Singh was killed or committed suicide, the documentary and forensic evidence will give an idea,” said an official. in the agency.
