In making a statement in Lok Sabha, Singh also said that the Indian army has inflicted high costs, including casualties on the Chinese side during the clash with the PLA in the Galwan Valley on June 15.

The defense minister said that since April, China’s accumulation of troops and weapons has been witnessed in the border areas adjacent to eastern Ladakh.
He said that in early May, the Chinese side had taken steps to hamper the normal and traditional patrolling pattern of Indian troops in the Galwan Valley area, resulting in a clash.
Singh said that even as ground commanders were addressing this situation according to the provisions of the bilateral agreements and protocol, in mid-May, the Chinese side made several attempts to transgress LAC in other parts of the western sector.
“This included Kongka La, Gogra and North Bank of Pangong Lake. These attempts were caught early and consequently our military responded appropriately.
“We made it clear to the Chinese side both through diplomatic and military channels that China, with such actions, was attempting to unilaterally alter the status quo. It was categorically expressed that this was unacceptable,” he said.
After Singh’s statement, Congress wanted to raise certain issues that President Om Birla did not allow. Unhappy with this, Congress left the House.
