Rahul Gandhi attacks government for “no data on migrant worker deaths” | India News

NEW DELHI: Returning to verse to attack the Center for its statement that it has no data on the number of migrants who died during the lockdown, Congressional Leader Rahul Gandhi said on Tuesday that the world saw the deaths, but only the Modi government did not know.
Union Labor Minister Santosh Gangwar told Lok Sabha on Monday that the government has no data on the number of migrants who died or were injured while returning to their places of origin due to the shutdown.
In a four-line Hindi verse, Gandhi responded by saying that the Modi government does not know how many migrant workers died and how many jobs were lost during the shutdown.
“Did not the death occur if it was not counted? But yes, it is sad that the government has not been affected by it. The world saw their deaths, only the Modi government did not realize,” he said on Twitter.

The former head of Congress accompanies his mother, Sonia Gandhi, during her trip to the United States for a routine medical check-up.
The government’s response in Lok Sabha was to a question from BJD member Bhartruhari Mahtab.
On March 25, a nationwide lockdown was imposed to contain the spread of the new coronavirus.
There was an exodus of large numbers of migrant workers to their places of origin from different parts of the country during the shutdown. The lockdown restrictions were eased from the end of May.
