To further improve social distancing standards on Delhi Metro trains, the DMRC has placed floor markers inside the carriages, in addition to existing stickers on alternate seats, authorities said Monday.
Nearly 2.5 lakh of commuters used Delhi Metro services in various corridors as of Monday night, the first business day since the resumption of full services after a 169-day hiatus due to Covid-19.
The DMRC has been turning to social media to raise awareness among travelers about observing social distancing to curb the spread of Covid-19.
“In addition to the stickers on the alternate seats, DMRC is now further strengthening the social distancing signs within its trains. 800 coaches are already equipped with the floor markers and within a week, floor markers will be placed on the remaining 1,400 subway cars. Seat stickers instruct passengers to sit in alternate seats.
A train car can accommodate about 50 passengers in seats and a total of almost 300 passengers in the entire compartment, including standing passengers. With the social distancing rules, this number has been drastically reduced.
