Heavy rains are likely in Telangana


HyderabadThe state can expect thunderstorm activity, along with heavy to very heavy rains through Thursday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

IMD meteorologists have said that the expected weather pattern for the next few days follows the formation of a low pressure zone over the west-central Bay of Bengal.

IMD said thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are highly likely to occur in isolated locations over Telangana state. Heavy to very heavy rains, and even extremely heavy rains, are very likely to occur in isolated locations in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts over the next few days.

A similar climate can be expected in Adilabad, Kumrambheem, Mancherial, Karimnagar, Siddipet, Jayashankar-Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Warangal (urban and rural), Mahbubabad, Jangaon, Yadadri-Bhongir, Khammam, Suryapet, and the districts Nalgonurdapet, Nalgonurdapet, said the IMD.

According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), the state has seen a good monsoon this year. Only one district, Nirmal, has received poor rainfall. While eleven districts received a large excess of rain, 12 received an excess of rain and nine received normal rainfall.

Overall, the state has typically received 635.9mm of rain since June 1, but this time it has received 881.2mm of rain.

IMD said the southwest monsoon has been vigorous over the state and heavy rains were recorded in isolated locations in the Khammam, Suryapet, Nalgonda, Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Medak, Nirmal and Kamareddy districts between Saturday and Sunday.

The highest rainfall of 10 cm was recorded in Sattupalle and Enkuru in the Khammam district.
