Kangana Ranaut for BJP's Bihar campaign? Answer from Devendra Fadnavis

Patna:

The BJP doesn’t need any other stars as it has Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country’s “biggest superstar”, a top leader said today when asked if actor Kangana Ranaut would campaign for the ruling party in Bihar.

Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis made the remarks while campaigning in Bihar’s Katihar for state elections just weeks away.

“We don’t need any stars as we have Narendra Modi, who is the biggest BJP star and the nation’s superstar. Thanks to him, we win in the country and we will win everywhere,” said Fadnavis, who is tasked overseeing the BJP Campaign in Bihar.

The BJP in Maharashtra has been cautious of Kangana Ranaut, whose comments comparing Mumbai to Pakistani-occupied Kashmir (PoK) turned into much controversy and sparked a war of words with Shiv Sena. Last week, a demolition of the actor’s Mumbai office by the Shiv Sena-controlled civic body was criticized by Fadnavis, although he said he did not support Kangana Ranaut’s comments about Mumbai.

“You are not going to demolish Dawood’s house, but you want to demolish the actor’s house … The Maharashtra government believes that the state is not fighting the coronavirus, but Kangana (Ranaut),” Fadnavis had said.

Kangana Ranaut made the Mumbai-PoK comparison to show that she did not feel safe in the city after the reaction of the Sena to her criticism of the handling of the Sushant Singh Rajput death case by the police and administration in Maharashtra.

For the BJP, the Sushant Singh Rajput case is a topic of conversation in the Bihar campaign. The party has put up posters to highlight its role in obtaining “justice” for the Bihar-born actor, whose death on June 14 is under investigation by the IWC. The CBI investigation was recommended by BJP’s Bihar ally, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and endorsed by the Supreme Court.
