NEW DELHI: Google on Tuesday shared a doodle for the second time to express its gratitude to the people who have been fighting the ongoing coronavirus pandemic at the forefront. Previously, the same doodle had been posted in April to thank coronavirus helpers.
The two ‘o’ in G’oo’gle have been scribbled to show helpers who continued to provide essential services that enable survival in difficult times of confinement and social distancing.
The doodle featured caricatures of a firefighter, a police officer, doctors and nurses, bureaucrats, lawyers, farmers, street sweepers, chefs, and public transportation personnel, thanking everyone with a big heart right in the center of the doodle.
In its note “Thank you – Coronavirus Helpers”, Google Doodle said: “As Covid-19 continues to impact communities around the world, people are coming together to help each other now more than ever. We are launching a series by Doodle to recognize and honor many of those on the front lines. Today, we would like to say: To all coronavirus helpers, thank you. ”
The scope of the doodle is in North America, Canada, Brazil, South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, Senegal, Morocco, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Japan, Latvia, Ireland, Estonia, France, Croatia, Italy, Serbia, among others.
Meanwhile, the pandemic has killed more than 921,000 people worldwide since it broke out in China late last year, according to an AFP tally at 1900 GMT Sunday based on official sources. More than 28.8 million cases have been confirmed.
The United States has the highest number of deaths with 193,705, followed by Brazil with 131,210, India with 78,586 and Mexico with 70,604.
