Jab tak dawai nahi, tab tak dhilai nahi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Warns the Masses as COVID-19 Cases Rise | India News

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again warned the masses not to be careless as coronavirus cases continue to rise in the country despite extreme precautionary measures taken by the Center and state governments.

The prime minister, while addressing a meeting in Madhya Pradesh via video conference on Saturday, shared a catchphrase to highlight the importance of social distancing and masks in fighting the disease until a vaccine is developed.

“Jab tak dawai nahi, tab tak dhilai nahi. Do gaj ki doori, mask hai jaroori (There is no neglect until a drug is found, it is necessary to mask and keep a distance of two meters)”, said the prime minister as he headed to the virtual house opening ceremony of 1.75 lakh of houses built in rural areas of the state under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

The prime minister’s warning comes at a time when about a lakh of coronavirus cases are reported daily across the country.

Earlier this month, India crossed Brazil to become the second most affected county by the coronavirus in the world. Some experts have said that the country is likely to cross the United States, which has the highest number of coronavirus cases, in the coming months if the current growth rate is not stopped.
