MUMBAI: One day after he was assaulted by alleged Shiv Sainiks for allegedly forwarding a cartoon satirizing Maharashtra Prime Minister Uddhav Thackeray, the retired Navy officer, demanded on Saturday that the CM apologize to him and the country.
The retired officer, Madan Sharma, also said Thackeray should resign from his post if he could not uphold law and order in the state.
Sharma was abused and slapped in his suburban Kandivali residential complex on Friday morning.

The six defendants, who were charged under section 325 of the Indian Penal Code for causing serious injuries and riots, were released on bail on Saturday.
Speaking to reporters, Sharma said: “If something happens to me or my family, I will blame Uddhav Thackeray.”
Thackeray should resign if he cannot handle the law and order situation in the state, Sharma added.
Meanwhile, Sharma garnered support from the BJP opponent, with top leader and former prime minister Devendra Fadnavis calling the assault “state-sponsored terrorism.”

“The prime minister should stop this goonda raj. Due to the pressure, the defendants were released within ten minutes,” Fadnavis alleged. I was talking to journalists in Patna in Bihar.
Incidentally, Joint Police (Law & Order) Commissioner Vishwas Nangre Patil, earlier in the day, refuted the allegations of political interference and said the defendants were released on bail due to the prevailing COVID situation. -19.
BJP leader Ashish Shelar said his party would protest until the defendants are searched under strict sections of the law and without bail.
