Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday applauded his counterpart and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s Twitter feed for underscoring India’s ties to Japan, calling it a glimpse into the strong bilateral ties between the two countries.

On Friday, Japanese Prime Minister Abe, praising the ties between Indo and Japan, had shared photos on Twitter from his trip to India in 2015 and 2017, as well as photos from Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Yamanashi in 2018.
Prime Minister Abe, in his tweets, said that Japan has signed a Cross Acquisition and Services Agreement (ACSA) with India. “The agreement will promote closer cooperation between our self-defense forces and the Indian Armed Forces and will serve as a cornerstone for Japan and India to actively contribute to international peace and security,” Abe said.
Prime Minister Abe said he had held talks at the summit with Prime Minister Modi by phone and welcomed the signing of the agreement. He and Prime Minister Modi shared the vision of a “free and open Indo-Pacific,” Abe said, adding that both countries have been successful in rapidly strengthening the Japan-India relationship.
Emphasizing regional peace and stability, Abe said Japan will be “on the arm of the United States, Australia and other countries” and must continue to play an important role in ensuring peace and stability in this region and the world.
