Congress President Sonia Gandhi today renewed the party’s organization, eliminating five high-level general secretaries, including Ghulam Nabi Azad and Motilal Vora, reconstituting the working committee and forming a new five-member panel to assist her.

The changes come shortly after 23 leaders wrote to Sonia to ask for a reform of the party. Sonia set up some members of the ginger group today, Mukul Wasnik, Jitin Prasada, and Arvinder Lovely, while leaving Kapil Sibal and Manish Tewari out in the cold, for now.
