‘There is no quarantine for those who leave the state and return in 96 hours’: Assam’s government

Under a new directive from the Assam government, those who travel out of state but return within 96 hours will not have to self-quarantine for 10 days as previously required.

“A person who travels anywhere outside of Assam and returns to the state within 96 hours of departure will not have to undergo a 10-day quarantine,” the order issued by the state department of health and family welfare said Thursday. .

The order signed by Chief Secretary (Health) Samir Kumar Sinha stated that certain conditions must be met for the guidelines to be effective. They include the mandatory rapid antigen test (RAT) on the way back. If the test result is positive, the person will undergo home isolation or treatment at the Covid Care Center or hospital as per protocol.
