After resigning from RJD, former trade union minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh has written to Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar with a number of suggestions, including an amendment to the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee National Act (MGNREGA) and issues relating to his home district of Vaishali.
Singh addressed his letter to Nitish Kumar from his hospital bed at AIIMS, New Delhi, on Thursday, the day resigned from the RJD, and posted it on his Facebook account. The ruling Janata Dal (United) has made it clear that the party will welcome Singh to the party if he decides to join it.
Singh is in Delhi AIIMS due to post-COVID complications.
In his letter to Nitish Kumar, who heads JD (U), Raghuvansh Singh, who as union minister for rural development at UPA-1 had put the NREGA scheme to the test, has urged the CM to present an amendment to the law by an ordinance. to facilitate farmers with more profits. He said the ordinance could be implemented as soon as possible to bypass the model code of conduct that will be enforced once Bihar’s election schedule is announced.
He also said that Lord Buddha’s begging bowl should be brought from Kabul and suggested hoisting the Tricolor in Vaishali of Bihar, the land of the world’s first Republic, on January 26. The former Union minister also urged the CM to build small bridges over the Gandak canal in Muzaffarpur and Vaishali districts.
Raghuvansh Singh has represented Vaishali Lok Sabha five times before his successive defeats in the 2014 and 2019 elections.
JD (U) spokesman Rajiv Ranjan Prasad said that “the letter he has written to CM Nitish Kumar on various matters are certainly matters that require consideration.” “One thing is clear: Raghuvansh Babu was humiliated and insulted for having swallowed hard during his long stint at the RJD, which he took care of with his blood and sweat,” Prasad said, adding that “Singh’s decision has blown a big hole in the sinking of the RJD ship “. . “
In a two-line note written in Hindi by AIIMS on Thursday, Raghuvansh told RJD chief Lalu Prasad: “I was behind you for 32 years after the death of Karpoori Thakur. Not anymore. “He thanked the party, its leaders and the workers for their affection.
The head of the RJD responded to this by saying: “… I can’t believe (that I resigned from the RJD). My family and I want you to recover quickly and see you standing between us. For the past four decades, we have sat together to make political, social, and even family decisions together. You need to recover first and then we can talk about it. You’re not going anywhere. I’m telling you. “Lalu, who is serving a jail sentence for the forage scam, is in poor health and is currently admitted to a hospital in Ranchi.
Raghuvansh has been upset by attempts to recruit his archrival and former MP Rama Kishore Singh to the RJD. He resigned as national vice president of RJD about three months ago, and is said to be upset with Lalu for not intervening even after he made it clear that Rama Kishore “should not be included in the RJD.”
Rama Singh had defeated the veteran RJD leader in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, breaking his winning streak since he was first elected from Vaishali in 1996.
