Actor and filmmaker Farhan Akhtar opposes the lawsuit of actress Rhea Chakraborty by the media. Farhan shared a tweet from Amnesty India, which condemned Rhea’s treatment in a news report on the Sushant Singh Rajput case.
Amnesty India wrote in its report: “The right to a fair and impartial trial is fundamental to guaranteeing justice. The denial of this right is an injustice to both the accused and the victim ”. Sharing it, Farhan wrote: “The media coverage that conjectures and denigrates his character and behavior serves no purpose. Condoning these practices alienates victims from justice and defendants from a fair trial and hampers our progress towards gender equality ”.

You deserve a PhD in any subject. When did I ever say that the coverage of the issues you mention is “fair”? And for you to base your opinion on my knowledge of AAC on a cleverly edited clip created and linked by agenda-driven media says a lot about your credulity. https://t.co/fuCzk83k0S

One person he went to in Farhan for failing to voice his opinion on ‘biased’ reporting on other issues of national importance. “Rhea’s media coverage is ‘unfair’ but one-sided coverage of the Delhi riots, Palghar, Ayodhya verdict, Rafale, Article 370 is ‘fair’ This comes from a guy who went to a CAA rally not knowing what was CAA @FarOutAkhtar Most Indians (even liberals) are sick of this “wake up” shit, the tweet read.
In response to this, Farhan wrote: “You deserve a PhD in any subject. When did I ever say that the coverage of the issues you mention is “fair”? And that you base your opinion on my knowledge of AAC on a cleverly edited clip created and reproduced by agenda-driven media says a lot about your credulity. “
Earlier this week, Farhan had also shared the quote to ‘crush the patriarchy’ in support of Rea. Several celebrities, including Kareena Kapoor, Vidya Balan, had also shared the quote “Roses are red, violets are blue, we crush the patriarchy you and me”, which was written on Rhea’s shirt when she appeared for questioning in the office from the Office of Narcotics Control.
