Delhi Metro will begin operating trains based on pre-Covid schedules from September 12: DMRC

Days after resuming staggered operations in the national capital, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said it would operate trains at regular times (6 a.m. to 11 p.m.) starting tomorrow, September 12.

On Sundays (starting September 20) services will begin at 8 am from all sections that had this practice in vogue before closing as well.

However, DMRC added that metro operations will begin at 6 am this Sunday, September 13, as part of the graduated inauguration.

On Monday, September 7, the Delhi Metro had resumed services with the restricted operation of the Yellow Line, since the closure of the urban transporter on March 22.

The Home Office had recently issued guidelines allowing the Delhi Metro to resume operations in a phased manner, after which the DMRC had said it would be done in three stages from 7 to 12 September.

Train services will generally follow the same frequency they used to be before the lockdown, he said.

All lines will have resumed their services when the Airport Express line from New Delhi to Dwarka Sec-21 (22.7 km with six stations) comes into operation in stage III, the last stage of the plan for the gradual resumption of metro services , according to the statement. PTI agency.

Therefore, all lines in the Delhi metro network comprising 349 km and 253 metro stations will be back in full operation from 12 September.

Due to the new social distancing regulations in place now that have significantly reduced the number of people transported on a train, the DMRC has also decided to operate the frequency of trains during peak hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., eliminating the concept from off-peak hours of 11 am to 4 pm where services were available with fewer trains or earlier trips, according to the statement.

From the start of services until 8 a.m., it will be available in the range of 3 minutes to 15 minutes as trains gradually move from depots to lines.

From 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., on all main stretches of lines, the frequency will be in the range of 2 minutes and 45 seconds to 6 minutes, the DMRC said.

From 8 pm until the close of services, the frequency will be in the range of 3 minutes to 15 minutes as trains are gradually returning to depots, he said.

Earlier Thursday, the total number of passengers on the subway lines as of 7:30 p.m. was about 84,841, the DMRC said.

“With the services available on most subway lines now, the total number of passengers was approximately 84,841 between 7 am and 11 am and 4 pm and 7:30 pm today,” DMRC said yesterday.
