A man believed to be a fan of Bollywood actor Kangana Raut was arrested in southern Kolkata late Thursday night for allegedly making threatening calls to Shiv Sena’s leader Sanjay Raut, police said.
“The man identified as Palash Bose, a resident of Tollygunge, was arrested by a team of the Mumbai police. Today he would be presented at the Alipore court for his pre-trial detention in transit, ”said a senior Kolkata police officer who is aware of the events.
Kangana Ranaut and the Shiv Sena leader were involved in a war of words over the Mumbai police’s handling of the Sushant Singh Rajput death case. During the exchange, Ranaut claimed that she was being threatened by the Seine leader and compared Mumbai to Pakistani-occupied Kashmir (PoK), after which, Raut warned her not to return to Maharashtra.
Bose reportedly threatened Shiv Sena’s deputy with “serious consequences”, after which the Mumbai police contacted the city police and arrested the man.

Raut is not the only politician to have received threats following the bitter exchange with Kangana, Maharashtra Prime Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Interior Minister Anil Deshmukh have also received threats, including some from the underworld.

Kangana Ranaut fans are upset with Sanjay Raut’s alleged intemperate comments against Ranaut and also against the Mumbai civic body for demolishing a part of his office in Bandra alleging illegal alterations to the sanctioned plan. Several fans have vented their anger against the Maharashtra government on social media.
