New Delhi: Veteran actor Paresh Rawal has been appointed the new president of the National School of Drama (NSD). The prestigious institute released the news on Thursday on its verified Twitter account.
“We are pleased to report that the Honorable President of India @rashtrapatibhvn has appointed renowned actor and Padma Shri @sirpareshrawal as President of @nsd_india. The NSD family welcomes the legend to provide their guidance to NSD in reaching new heights, “the tweet reads.
Rawal, also a politician affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party, began his acting career in the 1980s. Widely respected for his versatility, he has impressed with numerous award-winning artistic performances, as well as roles as the villain and comedian in major Bollywood films.
Rawal was honored with a Padma Shri in 2014 and won the 1994 National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for “Woh Chokri” and “Sir.”
Among her many popular roles are “Naam” (1986), “Shiva” (1990), “Tamanna” (1996), “Aitraaz” (2004), “Hey Lucky! Lucky Hey!” (2008), “My God: My God!” (2012) and “Table No. 21” (2013).
