Delhi metro update: The red, green and purple lines of the Delhi metro began operating today as part of Unlock4. All metro routes will operate during the day starting Saturday, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said, adding that social distancing and masks are a must at stations and inside carriages. Delhi Metro authorities resumed services on its longest route, the Blue Line, connecting Dwarka / Vaishali with Noida Electronic City on Wednesday. DMRC tweeted details of the times.

The DMRC has also called on people to use the metro only if they need it urgently.

“It feels good to ride the subway after almost six months. It will be better if the service hours are extended,” a traveler from the Inderlok subway station in Vaishali told the ANI news agency.

The Red Line is from Rithala to Shaheed Sthal in Ghaziabad. The Green Line runs from Kirti Nagar and Inderlok to Brig. Hoshiar Singh Station and the Violet Line run from Kashmere Gate to Raja Nahar Singh Station. Trains on all of these routes will run in two batches, from 7 to 11 a.m. M. And from 4 to 8 p. M.

Delhi Metro services were suspended for more than five months due to the forced lockdown by coronavirus. The Metro opened its doors to travelers on Monday with the restricted operation of the Yellow Line. The Home Office had recently issued guidelines allowing the Delhi Metro to resume operations in a phased manner, after which the DMRC had said it would be done in three stages from September 7 to 12.

As part of the first stage, the Yellow Line and the Rapid Metro were put into operation with restricted hours. On Wednesday, the trains began running on the blue and pink lines.

The list of doors that will remain open for passenger entry at each station along with updates are available on the official website of the Delhi Metro, www.delhimetrorail.com.
