Uttar Pradesh Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath held a virtual meeting with the union’s civil aviation minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Thursday, saying that Ayodhya and Chitrakoot airports would stimulate religious tourism, while Sonbhadra airport would boost conventional tourism.
During the meeting, Adityanath and Puri reviewed the progress of the Ayodhya, Chitrakoot and Myorpur (Sonbhadra) airports projects.
“Three and a half years ago, the state had only two active airports, now seven airports are operating, and the state government is working on the development of 17 airports in the state,” Yogi said.
“Once all 17 airports become functional, the state will get a connectivity boost, an increase in tourism, job creation that will add to the development of the state,” said the prime minister and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Hardeep Puri by the airports.

According to the statement issued by the CM office, Adityanath said: “The state government will provide full cooperation to the central government in the airport projects. The state government wants these projects to be completed as soon as possible. “
CM Yogi also requested Puri to initiate development work for Bareilly, Hindon, Saharanpur, Meerut, Lucknow and Varanasi airports. “Air transport facilities and air connectivity would improve once flights are operational from Bareilly, Hindon, Saharanpur and Meerut,” the prime minister said, adding that remaining work on the Kushinagar airport project was progressing on schedule. .
Puri thanked the state government and the prime minister for extending their full cooperation with the projects. “When the 17 airports are operational, air connectivity will increase in the state,” he said.
“Ayodhya and Chitrakoot are important from a religious point of view, while Sonbhadra has immense tourism potential. Ayodhya airport will be developed in stages, ”added the Minister of Civil Aviation.
Meanwhile, civil aviation ministry officials said they were working to initiate flights from Bareilly and Saharanpur, while formalities for the Meerut and Hindon flight operation will be completed once the relevant clearances are received. The development of Lucknow and Varanasi airports will be carried out according to processes, they said.
District magistrates from Ayodhya, Chitrakoot and Sonbhadra also attended the meeting by video conference. Others who attended the meeting were UP Minister of Civil Aviation Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’, Additional Chief Secretary (Interior) Avanish Kumar Awasthi, Additional Chief Secretary (Civil Aviation) SP Goel, Additional Chief Secretary ( income) Renuka Kumar.
