JEE Cut Off 2020: States Accepting JEE Top Scores for B.Tech Admissions

The JEE Main 2020 exam concluded on September 6. The National Testing Agency (NTA) published the JEE Main 2020 answer key on the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in. Candidates must now log in to the official website and verify the JEE 2020 primary response key with their application number, password, and date of birth.

According to information from jeeadv.ac.in, the outcome of JEE Main 2020 will be tentatively announced on September 11. On September 12, registration for JEE Advanced 2020 will begin. With the limited number of positions at the NIT, IIIT, CFTI, not all candidates have the opportunity to study at these popular and esteemed institutes. However, these are not just options. In addition to the NIT + system, several other engineering institutes and states also offer admission to the Undergraduate Engineering (BE / B.Tech) course through JEE core scores.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will soon publish the official answer key for the JEE Core Exam 2020 on the official website – jeemain.nta.nic.in. Once the result is declared, candidates who meet the cut-marks required by JEE Main 2020 will be eligible to apply for admission to various engineering institutions. After the declaration of results, the Joint Space Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will initiate the JEE Main advisory. The top 2.50,000 candidates who wish to enter the Indian Institutes of Technology will be required to apply to the JEE Advanced 2020.

States such as Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Nagaland, and many other private universities and institutes accept the main JEE scores / ranks for admission.

Candidates should check the state admissions process and eligibility criteria before applying for admission as they vary from state to state. Also, it is useful to have an idea about the limit of the previous year, as it gives an idea of ​​the admission possibilities of the candidates.

States that accept JEE Main scores for B.Tech admissions

Bihar

The state has switched to BE / B.Tech admissions through JEE Main in 2019. Candidates must separately apply for state counseling offered by the Bihar Combined Entry Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB). Eligible candidates will be assigned seats based on the state merit roster.

Chandigarh

The Chandigarh Joint Admissions Committee (JAC) will conduct admissions counseling for B.Tech course based on the candidate’s primary JEE rank. The authorities do not carry out any separate examinations. Eligible candidates will need to register online for admission. Seat assignment will be made after considering various factors such as number of candidates, seat availability, quota, and others.

Delhi

The Joint Admission Counseling Committee (JAC), Delhi will conduct admissions counseling at its participating institutes. All Indian ranks secured by candidates in JEE Master Document 1 will be considered for seat assignment in institutes for B.Tech courses. 85% of the seats will be reserved for candidates from the Delhi region, while the remaining 15% of the seats will be reserved for other state candidates.

Haryana

Haryana B.Tech admissions will be conducted by the Haryana State Technical Education Society (HSTES) for the admission of candidates to B.Tech courses offered by participating institutions. Through the admissions process, 85% of the seats will be offered to Haryana candidates and the remaining 15% to other state candidates. The counseling process will be handled by the authorities and vacancies will be assigned to eligible candidates based on 10 + 2 qualifying exam grades and grades obtained on the JEE main exam.

Jharkhand

The Jharkhand Combined Entry Competitive Examination Board is the body that conducts counseling and seating assignments for UG engineering courses in the state. Applications are online and seat assignments are based on students’ core JEE ranks.

Madhya pradesh

The Madhya Pradesh Directorate of Technical Education will carry out the MP BE admissions process. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria will need to register for the admissions process through the official website. The authorities will not conduct any separate entrance exams and admission will be based on the grades / rankings obtained by the candidate in the JEE main exam and class 12 grades. Counseling will be conducted separately for candidates applying for admission via qualifying exam scores and for candidates applying via JEE core scores.

Maharashtra

Admissions to 15% of vacancies at private universities are open to JEE top candidates. Counseling is common and seats are assigned based on JEE top ranks.

Odisha

Based on the main categories of JEE candidates, admission to B.Tech courses offered by universities in Odisha will be offered. The Odisha Joint Entrance Examination Board will also conduct a special OJEE for B.Tech course admission for all Odisha government and private engineering colleges. The exam is carried out if there are vacancies after the first counseling phase. Candidates who have not been able to take JEE Main for any reason will only be able to take this exam.

Punjab

Admissions to undergraduate engineering courses offered by Punjab universities will be made on the basis of class 12 score or JEE core score. Candidates with JEE Main scores will be given preference and, if vacant, will be offered to candidates based on Class 12 scores. The counseling process will be conducted by IK Gujral Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar.

Rajasthan

Center For Electronic Governance, Jaipur conducts the Rajasthan Engineering Admission Process (REAP) for admissions to B.Tech and BE programs in the state. Applications are online and are based on JEE Main Scores as well as Class 12 grades. However, preference is given to qualified JEE Main candidates.

Uttarakhand

The Uttarakhand B.Tech admission process will be conducted by Uttarakhand Technical University. The University will consider the main JEE scores for the allocation of seats to candidates. To participate in the admissions process, eligible candidates will need to complete the application form that is available in the online mode. Only during this process, candidates will need to submit their course and college preferences. Seat assignment will be made based on the preference provided by the candidates. Various other factors, such as category, rank in the JEE main exam, and others, are considered during the seating process.

west bengal

The WBJEE board allows admission to 15% of private university seats based on JEE top scores. Candidates should apply for the same with regular WBJEE advice and enter their JEE top scores.

In addition to states, many of what are considered universities such as TIET, SRM University, Amrita, SASTRA University, IPU, etc. also consider JEE top scores / ranks for admissions.
