Covid-19: the Ministry of Health reviews the guidelines for conducting tests

Only asymptomatic staff and students will be allowed into the exam room in accordance with the guidelines and everyone must wear a face mask / cover at all times within the exam center.

In addition to social and physical distancing in institutions, appropriate arrangements for personal protective equipment such as face coverings, masks and other logistical items such as hand sanitizers, soap, sodium hypochlorite solution, will be made available at the exam site. etc.

The examining officer and examinees can also submit a self-declaration of health status upon entering the exam center. Said self-declaration form may circulate at the time the admission tickets are issued. At the time of issuance of admission tickets, a simple recommendation / recommendations can also be circulated.

In addition, students should also receive prior information on what to bring, which includes documents related to the exam (admission card, identification card, etc.), mask, water bottle, hand sanitizer, etc.

The Institution must deploy the appropriate workforce to maintain discipline (to ensure compliance with the rules of distancing and other preventive measures at all times) during the examination.

The number of registration rooms and labor for documentary verification and attendance registration will be duly planned, ensuring social distancing standards.

Meanwhile, watchdogs and supervisory personnel should be briefed on the code of conduct in the context of COVID.

The examination center should have a designated isolation room to isolate anyone exhibiting symptoms at the time of detection or during the examination, until medical advice can be sought. Testing authorities will outline a clear policy in advance on allowing / not allowing symptomatic candidates to take tests, the guidelines suggested.

Entrances must have mandatory provisions for hand hygiene and thermal protection. If any examiner / examinee officer does not meet the self-declaration criteria, they will not be allowed entry.

“In the regular course, a symptomatic candidate must be referred to the nearest health center and given the opportunity to take the exam by other means or the University / Educational Institution will take the exam at a later date when the The student is declared physically fit. Specific markings can be made with enough distance to manage the queue and ensure social distancing in the premises.

Proper crowd management must be guaranteed in the exam center, as well as in outdoor facilities such as parking lots, waiting areas, duly following the physical distance rules.

Bags, books, or cell phones should not be allowed in the test center.

Examinees will be taken to a batch registration room maintaining adequate physical distance standards for document verification and attendance registration. Thereafter, they will be escorted in groups to their assigned exam room.

The pat-down of examinees, if necessary, will take place after the thermal evaluation. Personnel involved in the search must wear a triple-layer medical mask in addition to gloves. Such personnel should maintain proper hand hygiene each time gloves are changed.

For the paper and pencil based tests, the supervisor will sanitize their hands before distributing the question / answer sheets. Examinees will also disinfect their hands prior to receiving such documents and returning them to supervisors. The collection and packaging of the answer sheets, at each stage will involve the disinfection of the hands. The answer sheets will preferably be opened after 72 hours have elapsed from the collection of the works.

In the event that a PwD candidate uses a scribe, both the candidate and the scribe must wear the masks and be required to sit with adequate physical distance.

Upon completion of the exam, candidates should be allowed to move in in an orderly manner.

The government said that a record of all exam officials and students will be kept in the system for future reference and traceability. The installation and use of the Aarogya Setu application will be encouraged.

Meanwhile, at least 74% of candidates who had registered for JEE-Mains showed up for the exam last week amid strict precautions in light of COVID-19, even as attendance figures fell from 94.32. % in the January session.

The Joint Entrance Exam (JEE), primary for admission to engineering colleges across the country, is held twice a year.

According to statistics available with the Ministry of Education, out of 8.58 lakh applicants, 6.35 lakh showed up for the engineering test from September 1-6. The examination was carried out after being postponed twice in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
