The West Bengal government has decided to cancel the statewide lockdown on September 12, 2020 in lieu of the NEET 2020 exam. Chief Minister of State Mamata Bangerjee announced the decision. NEET or National Cum Entry Eligibility Test is scheduled to take nationwide on Sunday September 13, 2020. To assist students, the WB government will also offer special metro services in Kolkata on the day of the NEET exam.
Taking to his Twitter account, Banerjee shared that the state government had previously decided to have a lockdown on September 11-12. However, after student applications were received, the government decided to lift the blockade.
She writes: ‘With your interest in mind, while the statewide lockdown remains as it is on September 11, it has been decided to cancel the lockdown on the 12th, so that students can attend the exam on the 13th without apprehension or concerns. I wish you all the best ”.
15.67 lakh candidates have applied for the NEET 2020 exam from across the country. The exam would take place on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Students must travel from remote locations to the nearest test centers.
As such, many students would travel to the cities of their respective test centers before the exam. To make travel even easier, Indian Railways also has 23 special trains for NEET students. Kolkata Metro would also offer special services on test day for students.
