Covid-19 count in Delhi crosses 2 lakh mark with record 4,039 new cases


Delhi on Wednesday reported the highest single-day peak in new Covid-19 cases so far, after 4,039 more patients tested positive for the new coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours, according to the daily health bulletin.

With this, the number of cases in the national capital has exceeded 2 lakh-mark to reach 2,01,174, he added.

Along with that, the death toll has also risen to 4,638, as 20 more virus-related deaths were reported in Delhi on Wednesday.

Currently, there are 1,72,763 patients who have recovered / discharged / migrated thus far, including 2,623 patients today.

The positivity rate is currently 7.41%.

The active case count increased to 23,733 from 22,377 the day before, it said.

Today 11,101 RTPCR / CBNAAT / True Nat tests and 43,416 rapid antigen tests have been performed. So far a total of 19,03,780 tests have been carried out, the Delhi government added.

On Tuesday, authorities conducted a record 45,797 tests. The city registered 3,609 new cases, the highest peak in a single day in 76 days, according to the government health bulletin.

Meanwhile, with the increase in cases, a prescription for Covid-19 testing in the national capital would not be required as of now, the Delhi government issued an order today.

“As a continuation of various measures taken by the Delhi government to increase testing for COVID-19 and ensure it is more accessible than ever, it has been decided that a prescription from a qualified COVID-19 physician will no longer be required evidence in Delhi, “the order said.

However, the tests will be carried out according to the strategy / advice issued by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and according to orders issued by the Delhi government from time to time, he said.

Individuals need to carry Aadhaar card to check Delhi address and fill out a form as prescribed by ICMR for COVID-19 testing.

Additionally, with the gradual resumption of metro services in the national capital, approximately 33,000 passengers traveled today on the yellow, pink and blue lines, said Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
