In a last-ditch effort to bring relief to students, senior Supreme Court attorneys are filing a new petition in the Supreme Court for the 2020 NEET exam to be postponed. The new petition not only seeks postponement, but also requests that more test centers are provided to students, said defender Alakh Alok Srivastava. The hearing has started in the superior court. At 11:22 am: SC noted that there cannot be different dates for different States. Lead counsel Datar urged that the examination be postponed. He urged that the exam be postponed for three weeks.
At 11:18 am: The hearing has started in the Supreme Court. Lead defender Arvind Datar said NEET testing will begin on September 13. “We are asking for a postponement.” To this, Judge MR Shah has said that the examinations would begin in a few days.
At 11:13 am: Currently, point 6 is being heard in the superior court by the bench of 3 judges. In a short time, topic 10 (NEET) will be addressed.
At 11:11 am: Working pro-bono for students, Adv. Alakh Alok Srivastava has sought the help of a leading advocate to help the cause at the urging of the students. The new guilty plea in SC also calls for a staggering 5-6 day exam, much like the main JEE exam.
After the successful completion of the JEE Main 2020 exam by NTA, many students and experts had raised questions about the comparison of the JEE exam with NEET. Also noted was the fact that 9 lakh students were spread over 7 days for the main JEE exam.
“15.67 lakh students are required to sit for the NEET 2020 exam on September 13th. There are many test centers that would have more than 600 students! How would social distancing be maintained? ”She asks the students.
The new motive has been included in the recent orders of the Supreme Court and its firm position to conduct the examination. As such, the new statement seeks relief for students by offering a middle way and better provisions to mitigate risk.
Would NEET 2020 be postponed?
The answer to that question may well be answered once and for all today. NEET 2020 is scheduled for this Sunday. With only three days from then and now, the plea in SC could be the last effort. As to whether SC would reject the motive (like the previous two cases) or give concessions to the other options remains to be seen.
