Schools will reopen from September 21 for classes 9-12
New Delhi:
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has allowed schools to reopen to resume the face-to-face learning method as of September 21. The ministry has issued a set of guidelines for conducting these classes. It is intended to serve as a guide for schools on the safety measures to take during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
These Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) follow the center’s Unlock-4 guidelines to allow schools to reopen in areas outside of the containment zones.
The ministry in the guidelines added: “This SOP outlines several generic precautionary measures to be taken, in addition to the specific measures to be taken when schools allow students (grades 9-12) … It is expected that all states / UT comply with the guidelines related to COVID-19 issued by the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare ”.
The Ministry of Health took to Twitter to announce this development. It said: “The Ministry of Health issues SOPs for the partial reopening of the Schools for students in classes 9-12 on a voluntary basis, to receive guidance from their teachers in the context of COVID19”.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has issued social distancing guidelines that include wearing face masks, maintaining a six-foot distance between students, following respiratory regulations, installing the Aarogya Setu app “whenever possible”, and banning to spit.
However, the guidelines also mentioned that online and distance education will continue to operate and is encouraged. Educational institutes across the country have switched to online mode to continue the teaching-learning process during the COVID-19 pandemic.
