Non-compulsory recipe, people must carry Aadhaar card, says HC

Medical prescription is not mandatory for those who want to undergo voluntary COVID-19 testing in the national capital, the Delhi High Court said on Tuesday. The rule will apply to the RT / PCR test to detect COVID-19 infection. People need to submit Aadhaar card details to check Delhi address, said the HC of Delhi. Along with that, a form prescribed by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) for COVID-19 testing must be completed.

Currently, it is mandatory to carry a prescription to be tested for coronavirus infection. A bench of judges Hima Kohli and Subramonium Prasad approved the order.

The Delhi HC requested private labs to allow 2,000 COVID-19 tests per day for those who want to undergo voluntary screening. The Delhi government has the capacity for around 12,000 tests per day, the HC noted.

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on September 5 introduced on-demand tests for coronavirus infection without a prescription. “An entirely new section has been added to the Notice on ‘On-Demand Testing’ which, for all practical purposes, removes the prescription by a registered physician, although state governments are free to decide on simplified modalities,” he said the Ministry of Health in an On-demand testing facility can be used by: 1) All persons traveling to Indian countries / states requiring a negative COVID-19 test at the point of entry 2) All persons who want to be tested.
