Actress Rhea Chakraborty was arrested Tuesday after being questioned for five hours by the Office of Narcotics Control on Monday. She is the 10th person to be arrested by the central agency in a drug case linked to the investigation into the death of Sushant Singh Rajput.
Rhea Chakraborty has been arrested and due process of informing the family has been completed, NCB Deputy Director KPS Malhotra announced after questioning the 28-year-old for the third day in a row. She was at the NCB office in South Mumbai for six hours on Sunday and eight hours on Monday. The actor arrived at the bureau’s office at 10:30 am on Tuesday. The formal announcement of his arrest was made five hours later. An NCB official said it will be presented to a magistrate via video conference at 7.30 pm today.
Rhea Chakraborty’s family and attorney had previously indicated that they anticipated the actor’s arrest after his brother, Showik, was arrested on Friday.
“Congratulations India, you have arrested my son, I’m sure my daughter is next in line and I don’t know who’s next,” Rhea’s father, Lt. Col. Indrajit Chakraborty (retd) said in an emotional statement about weekend.
“Rhea Chakraborty is ready to be arrested because it is a witch hunt,” her attorney Satish Maneshinde said before the OCN questioned her for the first time on Sunday. When the NCB formally arrested her, Maneshinde described it as “a parody of justice.
“Three central agencies harassed a single woman, just because she was in love with a drug addict who suffered from mental health problems for several years under the care of five leading psychiatrists in Mumbai, who ended up committing suicide due to the use of illegally administered medications and used drugs” Maneshinde said.

The NCB is one of three central agencies that moved after a controversy broke out over the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput in his Bandra apartment on June 14, the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Directorate of Enforcement of the federal agency of financial crimes are the other two. .
Sushant Singh Rajput’s autopsy indicated that he died by suicide. His father, however, filed a FIR against Rhea Chakraborty in Patna, accusing her of driving his son to suicide and embezzling his money. Chakraborty has denied the allegations on several occasions.

Bihar Police Chief Gupteshwar Pandey, who started the criminal case against Rhea Chakraborty before turning the case over to the CBI, said investigations had exposed the actor.
“Rhea Chakraborty is totally exposed in the sense that she had a connection to drug dealers. This has been established. That is why they have arrested her, ”Bihar Police Director General Gupteshwar Pandey said, according to the ANI news agency.

The NCB registered her case after coming across WhatsApp chats retrieved from Rhea Chakraborty’s phone about an alleged conversation about buying drugs between her and Sushant Singh Rajput’s home manager Samuel Miranda.
According to NCB officials, Rhea’s brother Showik instructed Sushant Singh’s maid Dipesh Sawant and Samuel Miranda to purchase 5g of marijuana from a street vendor, Zaid Vilatra, on March 17.
On April 17, Rhea and Dipesh Showik instructed Sawant to receive a delivery of 10g of hashish from Kaizen Ebrahim near the Mont Blanc building, NCB officials said. On May 1, Showik allegedly told Sawant to receive marijuana from a person named Dwayne, and had received 50g of marijuana from Dwayne on May 2.
Five people, who were accused of supplying or fixing drugs to Sushant Singh Rajput employees on several occasions, were the first to be arrested before the OCN captured Sushant Singh Rajput employees, the house manager Samuel Miranda, housekeeper Dinesh Sawant and Rhea’s brother Showik. On Sunday, the NCB arrested Anuj Keshwani on charges of supplying drugs to street vendor Kaizen Ebrahim.
