New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today called for the habit of reading books to be inculcated among the new generation, saying that it is imperative in this age of text, tweet and “Google guru” that they continue to acquire serious knowledge.

Opening Patirika Gate in Jaipur and launching two books written by Patrika Group Chairman Gulab Kothari via video conference, Prime Minister Modi also stated that the voice of India along with Indian products is becoming more global and that the country now enjoys a stronger presence in world bodies.

The world is now listening to India more closely, he said. Indian media, he added, must also go global.

The media, the prime minister said, have served the people in an “unprecedented way” by spreading awareness of the coronavirus pandemic and analyzing the government’s works and pointing out its shortcomings.

Although the media is also criticized at times, more in this age of social media, but everyone must learn from criticism, he said, adding that this is what makes India’s democracy stronger.
