2 accused of rape and gang murder escape police custody in Madhya Pradesh


Two accused of gang rape and murder, who were among the three men arrested by police in Ratlam on Monday, escaped from custody overnight, police said Tuesday.

The defendants, Deepak Singh and Ravi Singh, are residents of Gurjarpada village in Ratlam district.

According to the police, Kalu Singh, Deepak Singh and Ravi Singh, cousins ​​and residents of Gurjarpada village, were arrested on Monday for abducting and snatching a 13-year-old girl from another village and killing her by drowning her.

The defendant later allegedly dumped the body in a field on Sunday.

“They were arrested after the villagers suspected that four villagers were involved in the crime that used to create nuisance in the village while intoxicated and one of them on Saturday night tried to deceive the villagers when they were looking for the girl saying that he had been kidnapped by some people in a car, ”said Gaurav Tiwari, Ratlam police superintendent.

“Three of the four were arrested. They confessed to their crime and told the police that they kidnapped the girl when she was returning home after buying some items in a store. They raped her and killed her, ”said the SP.

They were brought before the court and the court allowed the police to be held in custody for three days on Monday.

The SP said: “The accused were housed in the Biplank police station. They got into a fight over an issue Monday night when police on duty intervened and tried to stop them. It was when they fled. The police detained one of the accused, Kalu Singh, but others managed to escape. ”

The police have announced a reward of 10,000 rupees to anyone who gives information to the police about their whereabouts.
