Five lawmakers and 40 employees from Vidhan Bhavan and Mantralaya tested positive for coronavirus, officials said as the two-day monsoon session of the Maharashtra assembly begins on Monday. There will be no time for questions, motions for attention, or debate in the session.

He added that lawmakers could also get tested at their district headquarters.

The state legislature has put elaborate security measures, including ultraviolet light inside Vidhan Bhavan.

The short session will address supplemental demands and seven bills and one appropriations bill.
