Mumbai:

Dipesh Sawant, actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s cook, told the Office of Narcotics Control on Saturday that he saw Mr. Rajput smoking marijuana (marijuana) in September 2018.

Sawant, who was arrested yesterday by the agency as part of an investigation into the drug abuse allegations surrounding the actor’s death in June, claimed that he never bought marijuana for his employer, but another member of the domestic staff, one Rishikesh. Pawar, “used to bring marijuana for Sushant sir “.

In a lengthy “voluntary statement” given to the Bureau of Narcotics Control (OCN), Sawant also said that another man, whom he identified as Abbas Khalooi, “was preparing marijuana or charas for Sushant sir and I also smoke (d) with him “.

“… I inform you that after two or three days of my incorporation in the month of September 2018 I saw him (Sushant Singh Rajput) smoking marijuana /marijuana and charas. One day I asked Ashok bhai (Mr. Rajput’s cook) (if) Mr. Sushant smokes weed. He said yes … “Sawant said in his statement.

“… she told me that Karan, I don’t know her full name, it was the first time she drew marijuana or charas for Sushant sir, “he added.

“During that period, I never brought marijuana for Sushant sir, but one of my colleagues, Rishikesh Pawar, used to bring marijuana for Sushant sir, “Sawant said.

On Sunday afternoon, the ANI news agency quoted the NCB as saying that based on Sawant’s statement and digital evidence, it was “clear” that Dipesh Sawant was “an active member of (a) drug syndicate connected to personalities. of high society and drug suppliers “.

The OCN registered interest in this case after WhatsApp conversations between Rhea Chakraborty (Mr. Rajput’s girlfriend, who has been accused by his family of mentally harassing him) and a contact saved as “Miranda Sushi” (believed to be the manager of Mr. Rajput’s house, Samuel Miranda) – on the acquisition of medicines.

Ms Chakraborty, 28, who denied using drugs and told NDTV that she tried to prevent the 34-year-old Rajput from using marijuana, was questioned today by the NCB.

His brother, Showik Chakraborty, was arrested and sent to the custody of the agency yesterday after he claimed to have evidence linking him to the purchase of marijuana.

The agency said Chakraborty and Sanuel Miranda (the Rajput house manager) bought drugs from suspected traffickers Kaizan Ibrahim and Zaid Vilatra through middleman Abdul Basit Parihar; all three have also been arrested.

The NCB has also searched Mr. Chakraborty’s home (he lives with his sister) and Mr. Miranda’s, but no drugs have been recovered so far.

The agency’s case hinges on the discovery of 59 grams of cured marijuana from two men identified as Abbas Lakhani and Karan Arora, and their alleged ties to the Rajput.

Ms. Chakraborty, who is facing a “witch hunt”, according to her lawyer, has been repeatedly attacked by sections of the media and the public for her alleged role in the death of the Rajput. She has also been targeted by Mr. Rajput’s family, who claim that she illegally transferred millions of rupees from her Mumbai bank account; the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) is investigating these claims.

However, despite repeated allegations involving Ms Chakraborty, the only arrests in the case, so far, have come from the drug possession angle.

The NCB, which generally investigates cases involving several kilograms of contraband, has also admitted that arrests for such small amounts of marijuana are rare.

Rhea Chakraborty has also spoken out on the mental strain of being investigated by three separate central agencies (the CBI and the Directorate of Enforcement have also shown interest) in a case that has also sparked a major political dispute.
