Mumbai:
Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut has now apologized to actor Kangana Ranaut in the ongoing dispute over comments about Mumbai and the ruling alliance. When asked if he would apologize to her for using non-parliamentary language about her in a television interview yesterday, the Sena deputy imposed a condition.
“If that girl (Kangana Ranaut) apologizes to Maharashtra, I’ll think about it (apologizing). She calls Mumbai a mini Pakistan. Does she have the courage to say the same about Ahmedabad?” he was quoted today by the ANI news agency.
The trouble started when Ms Ranaut, a staunch BJP supporter and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said she felt unsafe in Mumbai after the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
“After a major star was killed, I spoke about drug trafficking and the movie mafia, I don’t trust @MumbaiPolice because they ignored the SSR complaints, they told everyone they would kill him and kill him, if I feel unsafe Does that mean I hate the industry and Mumbai “. she had tweeted.
Ruler Shiv Sena had reacted strongly. “We kindly ask you not to come to Mumbai. This is nothing more than an insult to the Mumbai police. The Home Office should take action on this,” Raut had said.
Ms. Ranaut alleged on Twitter that Mr. Raut, a member of Rajya Sabha, had openly threatened her and asked her not to return to Mumbai.
“Why does Mumbai feel like Pakistani-occupied Kashmir,” Ms. Ranaut tweeted, tagging the news report for her comments.
“I see many people threatening me not to return to Mumbai, so I have decided to travel to Mumbai next week on September 9. I will post the time I land at Mumbai airport, kisi ke baap mein himmat hai toh rok le (Stop if you dare), “he said in another tweet.
Sena MLA Pratap Saranik responded with a slap threat and said she should be arrested for sedition.
“MP Sanjay Raut warned Kangana in a very gentle way. If she comes here, our brave women will not leave without slapping her. I will demand that Kangana be charged with sedition for comparing Mumbai, the city that creates industrialists and movie stars, with PoK, “Sarnaik tweeted in Marathi, evoking outrage.
The president of the National Commission for Women, Rekha Sharma, suggested that he be arrested immediately.
