Richa Chadha has reacted to the alleged harassment of the Kannada actor Samyuktha Hegde by a woman who misbehaved with her and her friends for wearing sportswear in a park. The actor had shared a video of the episode on social media as proof and it went viral in no time. Many of her colleagues and industry fans came out in support of and criticized the ‘moral vigilance’ of women.
Richa retweeted the video and wrote: “Just because you think someone is not dressed as they should be, in YOUR opinion, does not entitle you to charge or slap them. The world doesn’t need more moral vigilance, especially not from self-righteous chicks. Please behave yourself. Respect is a two-way street. “
The fact that you think that someone is not dressed as they should, in YOUR opinion, does not give you the right to charge or slap them. Samyuktha Hedge said in her Instagram post: “After being in a democracy and following all the rules of social distancing, Kavitha Reddy and the mob in Agara Lake abused and ridiculed us for practicing our hula-hoop while wearing sportswear. Despite being polite and trying to solve the problem, the lady hit my friend and used derogatory comments about me and my friends. “
She added: “I was extremely disappointed with the way the police who arrived at the scene behaved, as if nothing was wrong and spoke to them with respect while asking us to be quiet. The cops stayed there while their mob harassed us and even after requesting the police continuously they decided to stay there and support this (test on igtv). Yesterday was very hard and it was very disturbing to go through this. ”

He asked the Bengaluru police to investigate the matter elsewhere. Tagging concerned authorities on Twitter, he wrote: “The future of our country is reflected in what we do today. We were abused and ridiculed by Kavitha Reddy at Lake Agara. There are witnesses and more evidence on video. I ask you to investigate this. #this is bad.”
