Sushant Singh Rajput case: NCB arrests member of late actor’s domestic helper in drug investigation

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested Dipesh Sawant, a member of Sushant Singh Rajput’s personal staff, on Saturday in connection with a drug investigation related to the actor’s death, PTI officials said. citing officials. Officials told PTI that Dipesh Sawant, who was being questioned since morning, has been arrested under sections of the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS).

With Sawant’s arrest, the total number of people arrested in this case has risen to six. A senior OCN official had previously said that Sawant’s role was that of “witness” in the case.

Meanwhile, a court detained Showik Chakraborty and Samuel Miranda, arrested in connection
with the drug investigation linked to the death of the actor, in the custody of the Narcotics Control Office (NCB) until September 9.

Showik Chakraborty (24), is the brother of the main defendant in this case Rhea Chakraborty, and Samuel Miranda was the administrator of the Rajput house. The third defendant, Kaizan Ibrahim, was sent to judicial custody, but was later released on bail. The NCB did not request custody of Ibrahim.

Showik and Miranda have been charged with allegedly acquiring non-commercial quantities of marijuana / ganja from a drug supplier at least 10-12 times between September 2019 and April this year.

Three federal agencies are investigating various angles surrounding the 34-year-old actor’s death, including the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The agency is investigating the drugs angle in this case under the criminal sections of the NDPS Act after the Department of Education shared with it a report after the cloning of two Rhea cell phones.

The NCB has said it is investigating “the drug citadel in Mumbai, and especially Bollywood” in this case. Rajput was found dead in his apartment in suburban Bandra on June 14.
