Witnessing an increase in demand, Railways decided to operate 80 more trains on various routes across India as of September 12, including a Vande Bharat Express, a Shatabdi and a weekly Shramik train. The carrier will also run “clones” of trains that are in high demand, to clear waiting lists.
“The average occupancy of the trains running at the moment has risen to 80-85 percent. Some trains run with waiting lists. So we have decided to run 80 or 40 additional pairs of trains, ”VK Yadav, Chairman and CEO of the Railway Board, said on Saturday.
“For any train whose waiting lists are longer than 10 to 12 days, we will operate an additional ‘clone train’,” Yadav said.
Reservations for the trains will begin on September 10. Most of the trains run on a daily frequency, while there are also weekly and fortnightly trains.
Here is the list of the new trains:
Resumed services include the two Vande Bharat Express trains from Delhi to Varanasi and a series of trains connecting states such as Bihar, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Tripura, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh. , Assam and West Bengal on key routes.
The weekly Shramik train has been deployed between Valsad in Gujarat and Muzaffarpur in Bihar.
“Our future effort will be to continue to monitor train occupancy patterns, so that whenever we witness an increase in demand for a particular train leading to waiting lists, we will run a clone train there to clear the rush. Yadav said.
“We have selected these trains taking into account the prevailing demand pattern. Migrant workers and others have been traveling these routes, ”he said.
