Delhi residents who went to Sukhdev Dhaba, Garam Dharam should isolate themselves: officials

People from Delhi who recently visited the two popular restaurants in Murthal whose large number of employees tested positive for COVID-19, should immediately isolate themselves and get tested after a couple of days, authorities said on Friday.

Sixty-five workers at Amrik-Sukhdev Dhaba and 10 at Garam Dharam dhaba on the road tested positive for the novel coronavirus infection, after which both restaurants were sealed on Thursday pending further orders, Sonipat’s deputy commissioner said, Shyam Lal Punia.

Both famous restaurants are located in Sonipat’s Murthal and almost 50 km from Delhi, and on regular days large numbers of people from the national capital visit these places in search of ‘parathas’ and other delicacies.

A senior Delhi government official said that people who went to these outlets by road should immediately self-isolate and go for tests after 3-4 days.

“Dhabas roads are dangerous places to go from now on, as customers can go to any city from that point. Therefore, it is also a logistical nightmare for the surveillance team,” the official said on condition of anonymity. .

“The best thing is that families should not go out as much as possible. This is still a health emergency and people should not be complacent and venture out only if it is really necessary,” he said.

The surveillance team will conduct contact tracing, given the limitations; in this case, you could take the help of applications, said another official.

“It is very irresponsible for people to go out and enjoy themselves, as if everything were normal. They are putting themselves, their families and others at risk,” he said.

Murthal is known for its restaurants that dot a stretch on both sides of the Ambala-Delhi National Highway. People generally drive in cars in groups to savor the delicious delicacies these dhaba-cum-restaurants are known for.

Meanwhile, the Sonipat district administration launched a massive contact tracing campaign after all 75 workers tested positive for COVID-19, authorities said Friday.

The Sonipat Deputy Commissioner said the sampling work has also started in other restaurants.

The DC said that in the wake of the pandemic, all restaurants had already been instructed to keep a register to record the number of visitors and their contact details.

“On the basis of these, we are trying to contact as many people as possible who have eaten food in these two dhabas in the last few days,” he said.

Sonipat Medical Director Dr JS Punia said that most of those infected in Sukhdev dhaba were workers who had recently arrived from Bihar.

Delhi recorded 2,914 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, the highest single-day peak here in 69 days as the count rose to more than 1.85 lakh, even as a senior official claimed “it was not an increase. alarming “, so there was no possibility of another lock.
