“We do not support what he says about Mumbai, Mumbaikars and Maharashtra,” the party spokesman said in a statement, while claiming that some political parties are trying to change focus and distract people from the current case of Sushant Singh Rajput.
Stating that the actress should not lecture the people of Mumbai and Maharashtra, the party, through its spokesperson, said they do not encourage such comments.
However, they criticized Shiv Sena deputy Sanjay Raut, saying: “We would like to tell Sanjay Raut not to try to fulfill his agenda through Kangana in the Sushant case and investigation. Considering the current situation, be it Kangana and Sanjay, everyone should not hinder the peace, this is the call of the BJP.
The actress has faced backlash for her comments not only from political parties and celebrities, but also from Mumbaikars. Attacking the actress, Raut on Friday urged the Maharashtra government to take action against people who defame the city police. She also asked Ranaut to go through the PoK first to see the situation prevailing there.
Speaking to reporters, Raut said on Friday that the Mumbai police had protected the city from all obstacles by sacrificing their lives.
“Mumbai is part of Maharashtra due to the sacrifice of 106 martyrs. If people who have nothing to do with the city defame it and its police, the state government and the Minister of the Interior, who is in charge of the police force, they should take action, or else the morale of the police will take a beating, “Raut said.
Maharashtra’s Home Secretary Anil Deshmukh also criticized Kangana in his statement which said: “The Mumbai police compare themselves to Scotland Yard. Some people are trying to target the Mumbai police. An IPS officer has gone to court against this. After his comparison with the Mumbai police, he has no right to live in Maharashtra or Mumbai. ”
He also reportedly hinted that action could be taken against the Bollywood actress for defaming Mumbai police and the image of the city.
Earlier this afternoon, Kangana took the lead to claim that she had turned down the BJP’s offers to join their party. She claimed: “I have denied the BJP ticket twice, I am Kangana Ranaut, my popularity and annual income are much more than many successful ministers and politicians, why not use your intellect sometimes, intellectual lady?”
Meanwhile, former IPS officers filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in relation to the “unfair, malicious and false media campaign” against the Mumbai police in the death case of Sushant Singh Rajput. Maharashtra’s interior minister, in his statement, said he welcomed the move.
Despite sharing her fears of a threat to her life, Kangana announced that she will return to the city of Mumbai on September 9 and launched an open challenge on social media saying, “kisi ke baap mein himmat hai toh rok le.”
