Actor Rhea Chakraborty’s brother, Showik, and Sushant Singh Rajput’s home manager, Samuel Miranda, were arrested on Friday after being questioned by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), which is investigating allegations of drug abuse. drugs surrounding Rajput’s death in June.
Earlier in the day, an NCB team accompanied by police officers raided the homes of Showik Chakraborty and Mr. Miranda around 6:30 am. The search teams included female officers and were seen wearing masks and gloves and using various vehicles.
NCB Deputy Director (Operations) KPS Malhotra, who heads the agency’s investigation team, was seen leading the search and told reporters that Showik and Miranda’s homes were being searched as a “procedural” action. Showik and Rhea Chakraborty live in the same house.
Another senior official said the agency is seeking to gather additional evidence and some documents have been seized by search teams. They said both Showik and Miranda received a subpoena to join the investigation during the search.
Later that day, the NCB search team took the two men and questioned them at the agency’s city office.
So far, the NCB has arrested two suspected drug traffickers operating in the capital city of Maharashtra in this case and detained one person.
The two detainees are Zaid Vilatra, 21, and Abdel Basit Parihar, while Kaizan Ibrahim has been under questioning since Thursday.
Parihar is known to have “ties” to the narcotics case filed against Sushant Singh’s girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty, 28, and others, the PTI news agency reported.
Parihar is linked to a person who, in turn, allegedly appeared in conversations recovered from Rhea and Showik’s mobile phone, authorities said.
Rhea has been charged in the death of the 34-year-old actor who is being investigated by the NCB, the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) on charges of money laundering and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The NCB began the probing intro of the drug angle in this case after the emergency department entrances.
The NCB has said it is investigating “the drug citadel in Mumbai, and especially Bollywood” in this case. According to officials, the conversations and messages from the mobile phones indicated the acquisition, transport and consumption of drugs, and the ED shared these leads with the NCB and the CBI.
