In a massive development in the Bureau of Narcotics Control (NCB) investigation into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death investigation on Friday, Showik Chakraborty allegedly confessed that he had allegedly acquired drugs on the instructions of his sister, actress Rhea Chakraborty. Additionally, Showik claimed that Rhea had allegedly asked him and Sushant’s former home manager Samuel Miranda to buy drugs and added that he was allegedly in contact with several other drug dealers, according to NCB sources. Showik was being questioned by the NCB since morning.

Earlier in the day, the NCB raided the residences of Showik Chakraborty and Samuel Miranda and searched Rhea Chakraborty’s car, phone and laptop in relation to the ‘drug angle’ in the case. Furthermore, NCB sources revealed that Showik allegedly met ‘street drug dealer’ Basit Parihar at a football club in Bandra to gain access to drugs. Parihar was already in contact with another drug dealer named Sohail, who allegedly supplied Showik and Rhea with marijuana, also known as ‘buds’. Rhea has already received a notice in the NCB case and is likely to be subpoenaed.

ED probe at the ‘drug angle’
ED has analyzed the WhatsApp conversations between Rhea and others regarding the illegal use of weed and cannabidiol (CBD) since 2017. It summarizes three conversations that point to: Illegal acquisition of weed by Showik in April-May 2020, Saha delivering CBD to Rhea to allegedly mix with Rajput coffee in November 2019 and similar conversations about illegal marijuana procurement in March 2017 and April 2020. These documents were turned over to the OCN by the ED, which has already registered one case and is investigating the case.

In the two months since Rajput’s death, Mumbai police have questioned 56 people to date, including: Mahesh Bhatt, Aditya Chopra, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Apoorva Mehta, Rajeev Masand. Bihar police have filed a FIR against Rhea Chakraborty and five others accusing them of ‘complicity in suicide, cheating and conspiracy’; this has now been transferred to the CBI after the Supreme Court allowed it to take over. ED has registered Rhea and her family for alleged money laundering in the amount of 15 million rupees, according to Sushant’s family complaints. Five CBI teams are currently in town investigating the case and have questioned various witnesses including Sushant’s building guard, the cook, roommate Siddarth Pithani, Sandeep Ssingh, and Rhea Chakraborty.
