Chief of Defense Staff, General Bipin Rawat, warns Pakistan not to take advantage of the situation in Ladakh | India News

New Delhi: Amid India’s border dispute with China, Defense Chief of Staff General Bipin Rawat warned Pakistan on Thursday not to take advantage of the situation in Ladakh, saying Islamabad could suffer “heavy losses” for any “misadventure”. He added that a strategy has already been designed to face such a scenario.

“If any threats develop around our northern borders, Pakistan could take advantage of that and create some problems for us. Therefore, we have taken adequate precautions to ensure that any Pakistani misadventures are solved and they cannot succeed in their mission. In fact, they can suffer huge losses if they attempt any mishap, “Gen Rawat said.

Speaking on India’s overall security challenges, General Rawat said India faces the “most complex threats and challenges” spanning the entire spectrum of conflicts, from “nuclear to sub-conventional.”

He made the remarks during an interactive session at the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum, discussed the security implications of China’s economic assistance to Pakistani-occupied Kashmir and general economic and diplomatic assistance to Islamabad.

The border line between India and China is at its peak after China tried unsuccessfully to occupy Indian territory on the southern shore of Lake Pangong. The Indian Army succeeded in thwarting the Chinese Army’s move and also managed to occupy several mountain peaks that had been seized from India in the 1962 war.

India occupied several strategic heights on the southern shore of Pangong Lake and strengthened its presence in the Finger 2 and Finger 3 areas. China has strongly opposed India’s move.

Meanwhile, Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane visited Ladakh on Thursday (September 3) to review the ongoing security situation along the Royal Line of Control in the region. Army sources said that during their 2-day tour of Ladakh, high-level field commanders will brief General Naravane on the situation on the ground throughout LAC.
