Priyanka Gandhi assured of a safe stay, Kafeel Khan arrives in Rajasthan

Dr. Kafeel Khan, who was released from Mathura jail Tuesday night following the reversal of charges under the National Security Act against him, landed in Jaipur on Thursday and claimed that Congress Secretary General Priyanka Gandhi, assured him a safe stay in Rajasthan. The suspended Uttar Pradesh doctor said his family feared that the Yogi government might indict him in another case and put him in prison again.

“Priyankaji ensured us a safe stay in Jaipur, who spoke with my mother and wife and said that the UP government could bring other charges against me. We feel safe here in Rajasthan, ”Dr. Khan said during a press conference at the Pink City Press Club in Jaipur on Thursday.

Dr. Khan was released after the Allahabad High Court overturned charges brought against him for a speech on the Citizenship Amendment Act at the Muslim University of Aligarh in January this year. He was arrested on January 29.

The pediatrician at BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur said he would appeal to UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to revoke his suspension. “I will write to UP CM urging him to revoke my suspension and return my service so that I can work as a crown warrior. I want to volunteer in the vaccine research program, ”he said. Khan added that he will knock on the doors of the high court again if the suspension is not revoked.

He said that despite the high court order to release him, the Mathura district administration delayed the release. “The Mathura Jail Superintendent said he would only follow DM’s orders [district magistrate] and DM was awaiting orders from Lucknow. They released me around midnight because they were looking for an opportunity to launch another charge against me, ”Khan said.

The doctor said his 65-year-old mother had to run from pillar to post, from Aligarh Lower Court to Allahabad High Court and High Court, seeking justice for him for more than seven months. “They have ruined my family’s (brothers) businesses. We are financially paralyzed, ”he said.

Recalling the death of 70 children at BRD Medical College due to liquid oxygen shortage, Khan said it happened because the state government had failed to pay and people in Lucknow were demanding a cut to release the Rs 78 lakh payment.
