The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested Zaid Vilatra, a 20-year-old Bandra resident, in connection with the ongoing investigation into the drugs angle in connection with the death of 34-year-old Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
Vilatra was arrested late Wednesday night, and was brought before a metropolitan magistrates court at noon on Thursday. He was sent into the custody of NCB until September 9.

In its lawsuit in court, NCB claimed that Vilatra “has revealed so many names with whom he trafficked drugs” and, for this, his custody was needed. “The NCB is investigating the drugs angle in the Sushant Singh Rajput case and therefore it is very substantive and needs to be investigated thoroughly to uproot the citadel of drugs in Mumbai, especially in Bollywood (sic)”, it reads in the application filed by NCB requesting custody of Vilatra.
On August 28, NCB arrested Bandra resident Abbas Ali Lakhani (21) with 46 grams of ganja. Based on the information provided by Lakhani, his supplier Karn Arora was arrested in Powai with 13 grams of ganja.
Subsequently, according to the information provided by the two detainees, NCB had detained Vilatra. The agency recovered Rs 9.55 lakhs, 2,081 US dollars, 180 British pounds and 15 dirhams. In his statement, Vilatra allegedly said that the amount seized was the product of the sale of contraband and that he had supplied marijuana to many people, NCB said.
