Samsung Galaxy S10 series starts receiving One UI 2.5 update


Six months ago, we had reported that Samsung is developing One UI 2.5 for its smartphones. The new software debuted with the Galaxy Note 20 series, Galaxy Z Flip 5G, and Galaxy Tab S7. On the day of the launch of these devices, the South Korean firm launched One UI 2.5 for the Galaxy S20 series and the Galaxy Z Flip. Now, the company has started rolling out the One UI 2.5 update for the Galaxy S10 series.

The Galaxy S10 has started receiving the One UI 2.5 update in Germany. It is a 963.49 MB update that includes the firmware version G973FXXU8DTH7. The firmware versions for the Galaxy S10e and Galaxy S10 + are G970FXXU8DTH7 and G975FXXU8DTH7, respectively.

The new software update brings with it the September 2020 Android security patch. The One UI 2.5 update includes Wireless DeX, which debuted on the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Tab S7 series. It allows you to mirror your smartphone’s DeX UI screen wirelessly to any TV that has Miracast. There is now a quick setting switch for Wireless DeX mode and options for adjusting screen zoom and font size.

The new update also comes with an improved professional video mode in the camera app, an easier way to share Wi-Fi credentials with other Galaxy devices, and the ability to search YouTube videos in the keyboard app. Professional video mode allows selection of video resolution and frame rate, microphone selection (front, rear, all, USB or Bluetooth). The Galaxy S10 series also gets the one-shot duration selection (5 seconds to 15 seconds).

Other features that are part of the new software update for the Galaxy S10 are support for Bitmoji stickers for Always On Display mode, split keyboard in landscape mode, SOS message preset, and ability to send location messages. SOS every 30 minutes for 24 hours. Bug fixes, security enhancements, and performance improvements are also part of the update.
