NEW DELHI: Meter services across the country will gradually resume from September 7 and all corridors will be operational on September 12, Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri announced Wednesday.

* The entry and exit doors in the containment zones will remain closed.
* Only asymptomatic people will be able to travel after the thermal examination.

* Use of face masks be mandatory for all passengers and staff. Metro rail corporations can arrange for the supply of masks for payment to those arriving without a mask.
* The use of the Aarogya Setu app will be encouraged.
* Disinfectants will be supplied at the entrance to the stations for use by passengers
* Sanitation of all areas that have human interface viz. Equipment, train, work area, elevator, escalator, handrail, AFC door, restrooms, etc. they will take place at regular intervals.
* The use of smart cards and cashless / online transactions will be encouraged. Tokens and paper / ticket receipts for use with proper disinfection
* Adequate waiting time at stations to allow smooth boarding / disembarking, ensuring social distancing
The Center said that Delhi, Noida, Chennai, Kochi, Bangalore Jaipur, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Gujarat and UP Metro (Lucknow) have prepared their own standard operating procedures based on the above guidelines.
He added that the Maharashtra government will resume subway operation from October 20.
